Safe and Sound
‘Safe and Sound’ is the innovative 7 element programme from the WMS Group, designed to help the customer make an informed decision in buying a Safe car and therefore a Sound investment. The programme has been carefully put together with both the used car buyer and dealer firmly in focus. For the dealer, it is a commercial opportunity to attract and retain more customers and create more profit from several elements of the programme, whilst setting himself apart as one of an elite (the best of the best) network of Safe and Sound dealerships throughout the UK. From the customers’ perspective, buying a car is a major financial decision and one that they want to feel can be carried out in a way that includes them in the process and provides all of the information that they need to make such an important financial decision. Is the car safe and reliable? How genuine and authentic is the vehicle and is the mileage accurate? How good is the warranty? What about a rescue and recovery package? Is the vehicle fairly priced? If you can provide satisfactory answers to these questions then as a dealer you are in a position to concentrate on the vehicle.
So what exactly is Safe and Sound?
The programme, based on our exceptional used car warranty product, takes away the confusion and complexities for motorists buying a used vehicle. The scheme includes seven valuable elements to install consumer confidence and encourage buyers to choose your dealership over the competition:
- Is the car safe? YES it will have a 60 point car safety inspection.
- Is the mileage correct? YES it will have a car mileage verification.
- Is the car free from finance? YES it will have a car provenance check.
- Is a car warranty provided? YES it covers all mechanical and electrical components and includes wear and tear*.
- Is a car breakdown Rescue and Recovery package provided? YES. Home-start, roadside assistance and recovery are included.
- Is the price a fair one? YES prices are verified by the independent Used Car Expert.
- Is that all? NO! Our Safe and Sound dealers will promise to buy back the customers’ car upon the purchase of another one from you, regardless of the age, mileage and condition.
The scheme is all about delivery and support and a programme that adds real value for the customer and dealer. The safety inspection is carried out by the dealer which puts him in control of his workload and demonstrates confidence in his stock to the customer.
Motor racing legend Sir. Stirling Moss has even put his name to Safe and Sound, describing it as a ‘winning car warranty scheme for motorists in the UK.’ To add further value, all Safe&Sound car buyers will automatically get entered into a draw to win back the vehicle purchase price, right up to £15,000! Sir. Stirling himself will personally draw the winners name at random from the Safe&Sound database in April 2012.
Further product information
The Safe and Sound car warranty, also known as Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI), is underwritten and is only available for FSA registered dealerships trading under the Safe and Sound scheme. If your dealership is not directly registered with the FSA, you will need to be signed up as an Appointed Representative of the WMS Group to begin trading as a Safe and Sound dealer. The Safe and Sound car warranty automatically includes European cover, vehicle recovery, car hire, overnight accommodation & rail fare and the opportunity to apply for transfer of ownership. Unlike most warranty companies, we won’t apply an excess if a claim is made either. Please note that the warranty specifically excludes service or ancillary items. There is a mandatory warranty offering of 6 months included within Safe&Sound, but there are a number of upgrade options available for your customers. The claim liability is the original vehicle purchase price and includes parts, labour and VAT costs. Please refer to the Safe and Sound policy wording for the full terms and conditions. In order to become a Safe&Sound dealership, you must agree to the terms and conditions of the scheme. *Wear and tear applies to vehicles up to 6 years and 60,000 miles at the time of purchase that have not exceeded 85,000 miles at the time of claim. The policy does not cover negligence i.e. insufficient oil or water, overheating or failure to ensure that minimum damage is incurred by taking preventative measures. WMS Five Star will be offered to all cars up to 10 years and 100,000 miles at the time of vehicle purchase.
